Pasic

During my first course of chemotherapy I was approached by a charity called PASIC, which provides emotional, social and practical support to families of children and young people with cancer living in the East Midlands to improve the quality of their lives.

The friendly and reassuring support worker they provided, gave me someone to talk to. Providing vital information and services to help with finances and activity days away from all the drips and beeping noises of the hospital allowed me to make positive memories. Attending the annual Christmas and Easter party events turned my interest in music and technology into a practical hobby. As my interest was clearly developing into something serious, my mum bought me some DJ equipment. Lots of practice later I was DJ’ing at parties.

I didn’t realise yet, but this was where I started to rebuild my life and provided myself with vital social interactions and confidence which helped reattach me with my life long interest in entertaining and music gave me the focus and the fight to recover.

Over a period of time this interest grew and with the help of my parents I made contacts with the event companies that support Pasic and setup my own DJ company. I was no longer the person on the dance floor, I was the person on stage entertaining.

The support and services Pasic provides are vital, it certainly made a big impact on me and has lead me into a part-time career I love.
